David atTwice Nice Sewing Machine Restorations is one of those business that will soon be gone if we don't support through patronage. The axion "they don't make them like they used to" applies to these shops and the products they service and support. Sewing machines are increasingly becoming a disposable item. Packed with computer driven features that make so many options easier to access. Built with light weight plastics and metals the new models will not last the test of time and use. Thankfully there are still some shops like TwiceNice Sewing Machine Restoration and skilled servicemen like David, these shops keep the well built and dependable Sewing Machines, like my 50 year old Kenmore Model 2142 ( a wedding gift from Nana Jo ) in good working order. This machine, with the help of this shop will continue to provide service for another 50 years. In all honesty I did not have any interaction with the business other than a delightful and very informative conversation about my 50 year old sewing machine. David talked me through the possible issues with my machine and guided me to resolving them. I was considering buying a new machine, but after our conversation I decide to repair this older work horse and keep it and pass it on the the next generation. Its a fine example of American craftsmanship and Like David it will continue to serve as long s I continue to use its service. You know what? I will take my sewing machine to the shop for service.

My 25 year old Singer was jambing, so I called for a tune up. The owner immediately came out and inspected the machine. I had the wrong thread, the wrong needle and the wrong bobbin. He corrected those items and wanted to charge me only a couple of bucks for parts. I insisted on paying him for his time as well. I could not be happier with the service and with the owner.

At first I was unsure about a business run out of someone's house, but David is the real deal. I brought my sewing machine in thinking that I had broken it. Turns out it wasn't broken after all. David explained what was really going on, and gave me a lot of good information about machines and how to accomplish what I was aiming for. I look forward to bringing him my machine when I break it for real.
